England Paintings: September 2005
In September of 2005 Marta and I traveled to Great Britain for a painting and hiking holiday and to teach a painting seminar. We rented a cottage on Holy Island, a beautiful place in northeastern England on the North Sea. I had been once before in 1992 and had wanted to return and experience this place once more. From there we did a few day trips to Scotland and the fishing village of St. Abbs. On September 22 we met the members of the painting workshop at the airport in Manchester, England. The Jack Richeson Company sponsored this painting holiday. We had private tours of the Whitworth Museum, the Wordsworth Trust, and Brantwood which all have marvelous British watercolor collections. We stayed for the next ten days in Grasmere, a beautiful, small village in the Lake District and painted the scenery in the surrounding region. We returned to Colorado October 2 and spent the next weeks finishing these paintings.
